Ronald John Hawkshaw


Ron is the senior land use planning and municipal lawyer at Polak, McKay and Hawkshaw. Ron is also a senior lawyer in the real estate law field.

Ron represents a number of public and private sector clients including real estate developers and municipalities. He has extensive experience in land development and appears before the Ontario Municipal Board.

Ron has also been active in the community in a number of non profit endeavours including Chair of the Durham Community Foundation, Chair of the Ajax-Pickering United Way, Chair of the local Heart and Stroke Foundation Chapter and coach in the Ajax Minor Hockey Association.

David is the principal business law practitioner in the firm specializing in purchases and sales; financing, leasing and incorporations. He also serves non-profit corporate clients.

In real estate, he has many years' experience in new and resale purchases, sales and mortgages.

In wills and estates he has provided services in wills and powers of attorney preparation, estate planning; probate administration.

Neil Cameron Murkar

Cam is the senior litigation lawyer at Polak, McKay & Hawkshaw. Cam began his practice with a prominent insurance firm in downtown Toronto and then returned to the Region of Durham in 1994. He has appeared before all of the Courts in the Province of Ontario including the Ontario Court of Appeal and as well has appeared before numerous tribunals and Boards including the Ontario Municipal Board, the Ontario Human Rights commission and the Residential Tenancies Board. Cam also attends arbitrations and mediations on behalf of both his public and private sector clients.

Within the major practice areas identified above Cam's practice consists of the following types of matters:

  • breach of contract

  • wrongful dismissal

  • minor variance appeals

  • zoning and by-law matters

  • estate litigation

  • insurance claims

  • small claims court (FLAT fee basis)

Since returning to the Region Cam has been involved with the Rotary Club, the Oshawa/Whitby/Clarington United Way, the Board of Directors for the Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade, and currently the Board of Directors of the Durham Region Law Association. He practices primarily in the areas of Real Estate and Wills and Estates.

Joseph is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Durham Region Law Association. and the Canadian Hispanic Bar Association and has represented them at the US Hispanic National Bar Association.
